The institution was started in 2005 as an Early Childhood Development Center and Primary School to serve the interests of the local community. The school aims to provide its students a purposeful and happy environment where all the students learn to discover and exploit their God-given talents and strengths, and so develop academically, culturally, physically, socially, and spiritually.
Philemon Memorial Academy is all about caring for the disadvantaged and marginalized kids in Kochia East location, within Homa Bay District, Kenya. The school strives to assist its students to forge a better future for themselves and for their community.
The Schools agenda is to eventually establish a center of academic excellence by investing in human development and nurturing leaders for the twenty-first century and beyond by using sustainable means. We intend to help our students develop the tools to anticipate and prepare for a change in our dynamic world.

Philemon Memorial Academy continues to set the bar high in terms of its excellent academic record. In the most recent Mock results for Standard 8 candidates, the school ranked 3 in Homabay District and 73 out of 993 school in Homabay County. In last years KCPE results, Philemon Memorial Academy placed all its students in either national high schools or provincial high schools.
